□ 한국원자력연구원(원장 박원석) 임인철 박사가 11월 4일 제8대 한국방사선산업학회장으로 선출됐다.

ㅇ 4일 경주에서 열린 한국방사선산업학회 정기총회에서 선출된 임인철 신임 차기 학회장은 2021년 1월부터 임기를 시작해 2년간 학회를 대표한다.

□ 임인철 신임 차기 학회장은 방사선 및 연구용원자로 분야 전문가로 서울대학교 원자력공학과를 졸업, KAIST에서 원자력공학 박사학위를 받았으며, 한국원자력연구원의 하나로이용연구본부장과 방사선과학연구소장을 역임했다. 현재 IAEA 연구로기술그룹(TWGRR, Tech. Working Group on Research Reactor) 부의장으로 활동 중이다.

ㅇ 임인철 차기 학회장은 “방사선 활용 관련 연구가 산업화로 이어지도록 가교 역할을 수행해온 학회의 노력을 이어가는 한편, 방사선산업학회가 방사선 관련 연구개발과 산업적 활용의 아카이브가 되는 초석을 마련할 계획이다”라고 말했다. 이어 “방사선 기술의 산업화 관련 연구 기획과 현장 적용 연구에 있어 씽크탱크 역할을 강화하고 방사선산업학회지(journal of Radiation Industry)가 SCI에 등재될 수 있도록 노력을 지속하겠다”고 밝혔다.

□ 한국방사선산업학회는 우리나라 유일의 방사선 연구 개발 및 실용화 관련 전문 학술 단체로, 2006년 설립된 이래로 국내 방사선 산업 및 기술 발전에 기여하고 있다.

Dr. In-Cheol Lim of KAERI was elected president of the Korean Society of Radiation Industry

□ Dr. In-Cheol Lim of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (Director Park Won-Seok) was elected as the 8th president of the Korea Radiation Industry Association on November 4.

ㅇ The new president-elect, who was elected at the annual general meeting of the Korean Society of Radiation Industry held in Gyeongju on November 4, will begin his term in January 2021 and represent the society for two years.

□ Dr. Lim is an expert in the field of radiation and research reactors, graduated from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University and received a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from KAIST, and served as the head of the Hanaro Utilization Research Center and the head of the Radiation Science Research Center at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the IAEA Technical Working Group on Research Reactor (TWGRR).

ㅇ "I plan to continue the efforts of the Society, which has been playing a bridge role in helping research on radiation utilization lead to industrialization, and lay the foundation for the Radiation Industry Society to become an archive of radiation-related research and industrial utilization," said Lim In-chul, the incoming president of the Society. "We will strengthen our role as a think tank in research planning and field application research related to the industrialization of radiation technology and continue our efforts to ensure that the journal of Radiation Industry is listed in SCI."

□ The Korean Society of Radiation Industry is Korea's only specialized academic organization for radiation research and development and practical application, and has been contributing to the development of the domestic radiation industry and technology since its establishment in 2006.
